Here's some more information on
my
THERMOMETER
Another project with LED's... This time I used 130 Green and
163 Red 5mm leds to form an digital image of an analoge thermometer. This project
has several similarities with my big clock. The leds are mounted using the same tecnique
(holes drilled in a sheet of plexiglass) The plexi-sheet meassures 75x17cm.
Then the plexisheet was mounted in a aluminium frame and covered with a piece
of smoke-colored glass. All the leds is then connected two and two in serial
and hooked up to 5 LED-driver ICs. Two Dallas DS1820 temperature sensors are
connected to two 3.5mm Phone-jacks in the frame. The whole project is powered
with 5v @ 1A. In fact I have two 5V supplies, one fixed for the logic and one
adjustable for the leds so I can adjust the light intensity. As with the clock
the whole thing is controlled by a PIC16C84 CPU.
Technical Info:
CPU: PIC16C84 @4Mhz
I/O / LED Driver: Allegro 6818EA (32-Bit Serial Input Latched Source Drover)
Sensors: 2x Dallas 1820
LEDs: 130Green & 163Red 5mm
Power: 5v @1A
